a. Parent and Community Involvement and Outreach: The principal designs structures and processes which result in parent and community engagement, support and ownership for the school.
Parent Input & Voice Through Surveys: To promote parent involvement and improve school-to-home communication, the Leadership Team developed and planned two Curriculum Nights to feature various academic topics. I created both surveys below to collect data and provide parents the opportunity to share their input. At each of the two meetings, parents completed a survey: one regarding Parent Involvement and another regarding Parent Satisfaction. I analyzed the data from the responses of both surveys to identify trends, problem solve, and develop action steps in order to more effectively partner with parents and the community. For example, one of the items on the first survey asked parents to identify the most ideal time for afterschool events. The action I was able to take was to change the time of the next afterschool event. The outcome did not match the data, however, because at the next event we had less attendance. I brought this data back to Leadership Team and the team hypothesized that the respondents on the first survey might not have been representative of the whole community of parents that attend our school.
b. Federal, State and District Mandates: The principal designs protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state, and district mandates.
Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) Compliance: I created this Google Form for teachers to submit each day regarding a student's behavior who has a BIP. The student is served in the Exceptional Children's program with the BIP connected to goals on his Individualized Education Plan (IEP), so compliance with monitoring each plan is paramount at the Federal, State, and District levels. My form is directly tied to the student's behavior goals and replacement behaviors, so the data collected from the submissions helps the IEP team analyze behavior trends. The tool also holds teachers accountable for using the behavior interventions the IEP team selected to improve the student's behavior.
